Wedding Music Selection Form

Musicians

The required services of the Organist and Parish Cantor are NOT included in your parish wedding fees. Please see the Wedding Music Guidelines for instructions on these fees. Please indicate here any additional musicians you would like for your wedding liturgy. NOTE THAT EXTRA FEES WILL APPLY FOR EACH ADDITIONAL INSTRUMENT HIRED, AND ARE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY. The fee for a trumpeter, violinist, or flutist is $200-$225. Harpists receive a higher fee - usually around $350-$450 - since they also have to contend with cartage of their unusually large and heavy instrument. ANY OTHER VISITING OR CONTRACTED MUSICIANS (including string/brass ensembles or guest vocalists) MUST BE PRE-APPROVED BY THE DIRECTOR OF LITURGY AND MUSIC. Please contact the Director as soon as possible if you wish to utilize such instruments.

Seating of the Generation

If you would prefer a particular piece of music for the seating of the parents and/or grandparents, please choose one vocal OR one instrumental selection below, or leave blank if you have no preference. Additional music options for the Seating of the Generation can be found in the section 'Vocal Solos' below.

Processionals

Selections that may feature the addition of optional instrument(s) are marked with an asterick, but all work nicely with organ or piano alone. You may select two: one for the Wedding Party and one for the Bride. Or, you may select only one piece from either category for the entire procession.

Responsorial Psalm

The responsorial psalm follows the first reading and is always sung. It will led by the cantor. Use the "Together for Life" book as your guide. The musicians will select the musical setting appropriate for the occassion.

Meditation to the Virgin Mary (optional)

If you are planning a visitation to the image of Mary, it will take place after Communion (or the Lord's Prayer if you're not having a Mass.) Music during this moment is usually a setting of the 'Ave Maria' or other appropriate hymn to Mary. This action may also be accompanied by a selection by the organist alone. If you chose to have an 'Ave Maria' sung during the Seating of the Generation at the beginning, it would be best not to do another here.

Recessional

This is usually the wedding liturgy's most festive and joyous of musical expressions. Pieces that may feature the addition of optional instrument(s) are marked with an asterisk. Please indicate ONE selection. If you already chose one of these pieces for your Processional at the beginning of the wedding liturgy, you'll need to choose a different piece here for the end of the liturgy.

Vocal Solos

These pieces could be used in a variety of ways before and during the wedding liturgy, including during the prelude before the ceremony begins, during the Seating of the Generation, or during the Preparation of the Gifts (if you are celebrating within Mass.) If you have questions about other uses or have other vocal solo requests, consult the Music Staff.

Acknowledgements

Please indicate below that you understand that the musicians for your wedding are private contractors and their respective honorariums must be received at least two weeks before the wedding date. The Music Staff will assist you in arranging payment for the musicians.
