Our Parish Bereavement Ministry meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month
(August - June) in room 206 in the Community Center at 10:00 am.
The Purpose of these gatherings are to help everyone better understand their feelings and to know they are not alone, to provide support, encouragement and compassion to those that are grieving.
Our Group is open-minded, membership may vary from session to session, effectively we offer a safe environment where one can tell his or her story and express feelings freely, knowing that others will understand, non-judgmental, and supportive. A place for establishing a connection with others to decrease the isolation that grief brings. We discuss the different stages of grief which include feelins of denial, depression, anger, guiltand acceptance. Addtionally we are a resource base for gathering, articles, poetry to further one's awareness fo the many aspects of grief and to learn from examples of how others have faced their losses. Discussions of articles can serve as a springboard for identifying important meanings in one's own loss. We are on the giving end of this compassion, reaching out through our own woundedness to the newly bereaved, helping them along, listening to them and offering them the hope that, just as we have survived our own losses, they will survive theirs also.
