Everyday Christians:  Those Who Hunger and Thirst for Justice

Cut the U.S. Poverty Rate in half by 2020. Click here to find out more! The Peace and Justice Ministry, directed by Lettie Gillespie, seeks to lift up and address some of the moral and human dimensions in social issues, identify structural injustices and promote social change in ways addressable by the resources of this parish.  We also promote and support the formation of various other groups working for justice.

Our Well - "LIVING WATERS"

Currently, we are involved in the Drop in the Bucket program.  See our write-up on the project at www.dropinthebucket.org.  Our Well, Living Waters, is located in Uganda.    There are 4 neighboring villages that the well is serving. (Kagavu, Kyankowe, Mawaga and Kasoozo)  The school has 380 pupils, (220 boys and 160 girls) and 12 teachers.  It is a community operated school built on land donated by a local man named Sserunjogi.  This school has 20 orphans.  The nearest source of safe drinking water before the well was 4 kms away.  The school has had working pit latrine toilets that have been in operation for the last three years.  Previously, the water source was a pond with contaminated water, so the school and local community are benefitting greatly from having a new safe water well.  For more information and pictures, please visit www.dropinthebucket.org/wells/St_Cecilia_Well_SSERUNJOGI_Foundation

For those affected by breast cancer and their family members, we have found a link that offers Breast Cancer Awareness and Support - See www.networkofstrength.org

You can view pictures of members of our very own St. Cecilia community participating in our many pastoral activities and volunteering to help those less fortunate.  St. Cecilia Parish Staff and School Faculty also took time out to volunteer at Angela House. Take a look!
